When to have rsvp And when to send invites!

Emma, on January 15, 2020 at 1:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hello! My event designer needs my final count 21 days before my wedding. Which would be September 12th. Our wedding isn’t till October 3rd. When should we have the rsvp date be? I was thinking September 4th, but that’s a full month before the wedding! Other option to me would be September 7th. Which would be 3 weeks before. I also am at a lost as to when to send my invites. We are not doing a save the date, does that mean we need to send them out earlier? Should we send out of state guests invites before in state or send them all at the same time?

I would have your RSVP date at least one week before your final count is due, so September 5th at the latest. Since you aren't sending save the dates, I would send your invitations at the very end of July or very beginning of August, but send all of them at the same time.

My rsvp deadline is set at March 4th ahead of my April 4th wedding. Some may think that is too early, for us it is imperative that we have it set this way.

My wedding is March 14th and I have to have rough estimates of final counts to vendors on February 14th. I sent my invitations out on January 11th and made the rsvp for February 10th. This gives me time in case people forget to mail them so I can contact them. Everywhere I read says that invitations should go out 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding.

I'd set your RSVP date 30 days out so you have 9 days to confirm. Our RSVP date was 40 days out. All the invites we get set the date 40-60 days out.

I plan to mail invitations out at the end of February with RSVP dates for the end of March. The wedding is June 26th.

Why so early? If it’s important to people they will block it off on their calendar when they get the invitation, and responding earlier or later won’t change that. We have family flying in from other countries so they would have to book their flights in advance to get good prices, and I just don’t want the last month before the wedding to be MADNESS. I would like ample time to make my seating charts, order favors and personalized place cards, which all requires me to know who is coming. I don’t want to panic that this Etsy vendor takes 3 weeks to fill an order and that something might arrive damaged in shipping that I won’t have time to get fixed. And my personality just likes things to be done and decided and settled.
How long does it take you to decide if you plan to go to a wedding after you get the invitation?

I’m requesting people rsvp by July 3rd, wedding is August 1st. Although our venue doesn’t require the final count until a week before the wedding, I wanted to know a month in advance so that I can finalize the seating chart and order escort cards.
