when to have cake delivered?

NLeo, on March 27, 2014 at 1:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

We are having a casual reception after our DW. How long before the start of the event should we have the bakery deliver the cake?

We just ordered our cake this past weekend. We are having ours delivered at 4pm for our 5pm reception start. The bakery is reliable and close to the reception location

I'm sure the bakery can help you out with this. That tends to be their area because they are the only ones that know how long the transfer will take, how long set up will take, finishing touches, etc. They've asked you to provide a time?

@rusticbride - no they didn't. Im going to order Saturday and I had no idea what to say if they asked. But if its usually their call, even better! ;-)

I would give you the time our baker is coming to deliver but personally, I have no idea when she's coming. My DOC is going to handle all of the vendors, haha!

@Gina, that's crazy. How on earth are you supposed to know that? I feel like that's why you're hiring someone Smiley winking

NLeo, if I had to guess, I'd say they'd show up to deliver/set up the cake around 2 hours before the ceremony starts. If you're having a purely outdoor wedding, it may be different, as depending on your style of frosting, they want to prevent anything from melting.

Our reception begins at 7. After speaking with the bakery and the venue around coordinating the set up, the bakery is coming at 5pm
