When to give gifts to my parents?

MrsE2020, on February 18, 2020 at 11:22 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

So to start off, we are giving gifts to those in the wedding party but we aren't doing a big gift presentation, we are giving the gifts as we see them the day before the wedding (most are staying at the same hotel so we didn't want to drag the gifts in an uber and have the guests have to drag them back). We are having a get together with the wedding party and some close friends after the rehearsal so that the wedding party can get to know each other before the wedding.

My parents have contributed some to the wedding so we want to get them a gift but would it be inappropriate to take them to dinner when we get back and give them a gift then? I don't think they are actually expecting anything and I don't recall ever seeing gifts presented to parents in any of the weddings I have been in.

His mom and sister aren't able to attend and haven't contributed (we didn't ask them to) but we will give them a photo album after we get our pics back.

I plan on giving our wedding party their gifts at the rehearsal dinner. I won’t be seeing my fiancé’s Mom until we get to the church on the day of the wedding so I think I will pull her aside and give her her gift at the rehearsal dinner as well. I plan on giving my parent’s their gifts the day of the wedding as we are getting ready. After the wedding we also plan on gifting pictures to both families.

We're giving our wedding party members their gifts at our rehearsal dinner the night before. I got both of my parents personalized handkerchiefs that relate to me getting married on that day, so I won't be giving them their gifts until the morning of the wedding. Then after we get our photos back, I'm making them an album.

We gave the parents their gifts during the parents dinner. Neither of our parents had met prior to the engagement so we wanted them to meet before any wedding festivities began so they wouldn't feel like strangers.

I don't think it would be inappropriate to give them your gift after you return. You could also grab dinner the week or two leading up to the wedding and give them their gift then.
