When to give bridesmaids gifts??

Nichole, on February 10, 2016 at 8:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

When the heck do you give your bridesmaids their gifts? I've seen threads about giving them at the shower or at the rehearsal dinner and I'm confused! Also, what are many of you getting your bridesmaids? I was thinking jewelry for the day of the wedding or something sentimental of our friendship? Please help!

We are taking our bridesmaids and groomsmen all out for tea the day before out wedding at this cool tea house in town. That way we have time with them away from everyone to give them gifts. Most weddings I've been in, we got gifts either at the Rehearsal Dinner, or before we started getting ready the day of the wedding.

I'm planning to give them their gifts the morning of so the photographer can get shots of that.

I got them gifts similar to what I would've gotten them for birthday or Christmas.

Most weddings I have been in I have received the gifts either the day of the wedding or the rehearsal dinner. We plan to give them the rehearsal dinner.

Rehearsal dinner. If you give jewelry for the day of I would include something else as well, since the jewelry is more for you (unless you're tailoring to each individual with what they'll like)

I've seen bridal party gifts given at most rehearsal dinners I've attended. The exceptions were the two weddings I've been a BM in. The one bride chose to hand them out at her bachelorette party, which took place the night before the wedding, immediately following the rehearsal dinner. The other bride handed them out at the salon the morning of her wedding while we got ready. All of the above worked well.

Personally, I think I'd like to do it during the rehearsal dinner so I can honor them. I have lots of fun stories from my friendships with each of them that I think my family and my fiance's family would enjoy, especially since there will be family and wedding party members who don't know each other, yet.

I want to give them their gifts at the rehearsal dinner because I want to say thank you and honor them. A lot of the little gifts (jewelry, robes) will be used the day of the wedding so this way they have it to being with them.

Normally they are given at the rehearsal dinner.

The threads about gifts at the shower were regarding giving hostess gifts to whoever throws you the shower.

Gifts have been given at the rehearsal dinner for every wedding I've ever been involved in.

I got us two rooms for after the rehearsal dinner and will go set it all up for after dinner when we go back. I got necklaces, tote bags, wine glass, tumbler, makeup bag with makeup remover wipes, tissues inside, flip flops. Most of it was DIY

I've gotten mine at rehearsal dinners, and that's what I'll be doing. I got them their jewelry for the day of, kimono robes for getting ready (all different, specific to each person) and personalized tumblers that I will fill with chocolate. Not the most personal gifts ever, but I intend on writing something nice to each of the 7 ladies and putting it in their bag and I stayed on budget of $50 a person.

I probably bit the bullet and gave my Bridal party their proposal gifts, way too early. I also did this on purpose as a few/fam included live out of state.

I chose to give my gifts a year in advance. However, I am giving them bags with a jewelry set and robe to wear the morning of, the day of. I really don’t think there is one set way.
