When to get the dresses!

Mary, on August 19, 2019 at 3:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

Hi guys! My wedding isnt until Aug 2020 and I'm wondering when a appropriate time to go bridesmaid shopping would be? I dont want to go too early but at the same time dont want to get them too late where alterations may be cutting it close to show time. Same for wedding dress shopping?

It depends on the turnaround time for the store or website you're shopping from. Most bridesmaids dresses don't take more than 2-3 months to come in and shouldn't need longer than a month for alterations. It's usually recommended to start shopping for bridal gowns about a year out since they can take 6-8 months to arrive.

My wedding is September 21, 2019 & we went in the beginning of January all of my bridesmaids had there dresses by March so that was maybe too early but I don't think too early is a thing. They can just have it hang in there closets & get alterations as it gets closer.

I told my bridesmaids 14 months in advance but they ordered them as early as 12 months out or as late as 3 months out.

My wedding is on October 12th and the final dress was ordered 2x weeks ago. It only took my last bridesmaid 2x weeks for her dress to come in, the one who ordered before her took almost 6x weeks.

I'm sending out the options for bridesmaid dresses to my girls this coming week. That way they have time to save money if necessary and take advantage of any sales that Azazie has in the coming months.

I had them start seriously looking about 6 months out and then at the 4 month mark asked that they all buy their dresses! They all came on time.

I am getting married next August as well! I got my wedding dress about 3 weeks ago, and got the bridesmaids dresses last weekend. They told us bridesmaids dresses could take 4-6 months to get in, and then could take several months for alterations to be done.

I’m getting married August next year and I already bought my dress... I didn’t think I would but the national bridal sale was happening and who am I to pass off a good deal.. well low and behold I found the one. I was hesitant but after talking to the dress shop owner she said nothing like my dress would be coming out in the new collections so I said to hell with it and bought it. Bridesmaids I’m going to wait until Jan/ feb before we go looking again. I wouldn’t recommend picking bridesmaids until you have your own dress picked out. You don’t want to worry about them clashing. For example I always thought I would have a lace mermaid dress and ended up with a satin ball gown. Now I also want my maids in satin.
