When to get dresses and tuxes

As long as the attire is ready and altered by the wedding date, it doesn’t matter when they get it. The store or website where your bridesmaids dresses are coming from should provide the turnaround time. They should have it in time to have it altered if necessary, that’s all. Most BM dresses don’t take more than a month or two to arrive. The same way with tuxes, it depends on the store. You should start shopping for bridal gowns around 1 year out.

A bridal dress can take 6-9 months to arrive. Bridesmaids dresses can 3-4 months.

It depends on where you’re getting everything from. I got my bridesmaids dresses from David’s bridal and they requested to order them 6 months in advance. This was really good advice in case someone had to reorder a different size (which a few of my bridesmaids did). For the groomsmen I’m using the black tux, they have to get fitted a month ahead and order 2 weeks ahead. It all depends on the store, just make sure you ask and tell everyone the same timeline.

I got my dress in April for our December wedding, and FH picked out his suit in May.
