When to follow up on RSVP's????

Nicole, on April 20, 2016 at 11:22 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

Our response due date is May 7th (wedding is May 28th) and we are still missing almost 60 RSVP's. We sent out about 135 invitations. I know people still have 2 weeks to respond but it's stressing me out not having these responses! When do you start following up with people to get their RSVP in?

A LOT of people will start pouring in the last week. Hold your horses. You gave people a date, let them have a chance to meet it.

    May 8.

It's hard to do but you have to give them their time. We all want(ed) to jump the gun!

A week before mine are due i plan on checking in with people from whom I haven't received an RSVP and giving them a friendly reminder, although if I don't have that many then I may not. Definitely after they are due you can. I will not wait too long as I have to have caterer counts in.

Definitely wait until your due date. Then you can start reaching out. At our due date we were missing 50. I had to reach out to all and all came they just forgot to mail it in.

I did it the day after the due date. You didn't really leave yourself much cushion room between your RSVP date and the wedding. I guess your caterer/other vendors don't need your numbers very far out? My caterer wanted my exact numbers a month out so I had to allow for that. I personally would advise people to put their RSVP date around a month out. It just takes so long to track down stragglers.

Yep, day after their deadline. Some may of put them in the mail the day of the deadline. Just a heads up for other brides not at this point, just because your catering does not need the numbers until 2 weeks does not mean you should have your rsvp date 2 weeks out. I used this number, 2 weeks for catering 1 week to track the stragglers down and 1 week of cushion.

I would give a few business days after your due date and I'm glad I did because some people obviously put it in the mail ON our deadline date.

I waited 3 business days to start following up (which was last night). A couple people said it was in the mail, a couple people were embarrassed because they had let it slip. All in all, it was actually pretty painless.

Don't think about reaching out to people until your actual deadline. Otherwise, it will come off as pushy. You don't NEED the numbers before that date anyway. All this said, I totally understand because I was the same way just a few weeks ago Smiley smile

I started spreading the word through our parents that we were still missing RSVPs a week before our deadline so they could remind their friends since they were the majority of who we were missing.

My deadline was on a Friday and I waited 4-5 days before I personally started bugging people.

I would wait until a week after the due date. A lot of people will mail them on the due date because people just love to procrastinate.

A few days before the due date. My deadline was the 15th and I'm still awaiting to hear from CLOSE cousins. Ugh.
