When to first dance?

We're doing our first dance when we enter the reception. Then we're doing the cake cutting. That way, our photographer gets those shots before she leaves and guests can feel free to dance whenever they want.

If your reception dress is the one you'd want to be photographed in for the first dance, then I'd say do the first dance after dinner so you have time to change and guests aren't sitting around waiting. If you want the first dance to be photographed in your first dress, I'd say do it before dinner, again so you could slip out to change and guests aren't just sitting around waiting (or getting hangry lol).
