When to dye my hair?

Azeneth, on April 17, 2017 at 4:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

My wedding is June 9th and I plan on dying my hair before the big day. My question is how far in advance should I dye it? Im naturally dark brown and want to go dark purple. Ive had my hair that color before but cant remember how many days it was before the small smudges on my forehead went away. Should i do it now and retouch sometime before? Please help!

As a stylist myself.. I always dye my hair (I color it dark brown ) a week before .. to make sure it's completely off my skin but still very fresh looking

I would do it probably 1 to 1 1/2 before hand. Make sure you request Olaplex when you get it done. That much process on your head can make it break too and you do not want that.

I'm going to ask a dumb question- if you're hair is as it is now- are you doing a special color JUST for the wedding?

I feel like if you wanted purple hair- you should be already doing it purple now- rather than just once right before the wedding.

I did mine the Friday before my Friday wedding- I normally use box color- but had it professional done that time- which reduces the amount of skin staining. when I do it- my scalp is black for about 2 days.

But I'd be concerned about doing your hair for ONE event specifically if you don't regularly color it like that.

Just make sure whenever you decide that you also give yourself time to fix any issues that may come up.

I had mine dyed a week exactly before the wedding. Or rather redyed. It looked amazing and fresh for that day. The smudging was gone in 2 days!!!

If you've had it done that color by a specific stylist I'd do it 1 week before. If you've never done it that color/with that stylist I'd do it earlier and give yourself time for touch ups or corrections! Good luck!

Ask your stylist. Is your dark purple a semi or a permanent dye? This matters.

It's not recommended to try a drastic new style or cut right before the wedding. How often do you change your hair to purple? Is this your signature look, or something to do on a lark?

Purple hair is the best, I love mine!

Are you doing bright purple or a dark purple?

Also, there are some neat tricks to getting smudges off your face, or at least covering it up.

I took this picture the day I dyed my hair and you can't even tell I had some smudges on my face. (you can see some up by the hairline but that's because it took longer than I thought it would and I had to go back to work. It came off the hairline that night)

My fiance and I met when I had purple hair. Its not really a drastic change for me. I talked to my stylist and together we agreed one month before then again a week before. She got it right on the first time the last time, so I trust her and her judgment on when is best. Thank you ladies for responding! MsDtoR2018 that's almost exactly the same way my hair was the first time around and I loved it! Had a slight hint of red in it too.

This is the second time I've dyed it purple and I fall in love over and over with it every time!

I'll be going about a month before my wedding to color. But I also do blonde (bleach) so that'll give me a little time to moisturize and get it a. It healthier.
