When to dress shop ( Fall/oct 2020 bride)

Shantae, on September 23, 2018 at 3:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
Hey y’all I hope this is the right place place to put this..
I am trying to figure out when would be a good time to start dress shopping? I am so ready but how early is to early? Future hubster has casually mentioned it might be early but how early? We had orginally planned for the wedding to be oct of next year (2019) but I pushed it back cause we live in diff towns & just other financial stuff.
I am just rambling lol how early did everyone start shopping/looking for a dress?

Most dresses take 6-8 months to come in once ordered, and you need time for alterations. Shop too early and you do run the risk of “dress regret”. I’d wait until about a year to a year and half max.

About a year is a good time cause they are always making new styles you dont wanna buy something and then see a new dress and like it better! Do you know the style you like yet?

My wedding is going to be a bit before yours (probably May or June 2020) but I'm looking at dresses to get ideas, and of course checking out the beautiful dresses posted here. But yeah, I'm going to wait until next summer probably. To have time to save money and really get a grasp for what I want.

The wedding planner I bought, suggests to buy a dress 6-12 months before the wedding.

Also October 2020, here! I've started listening to dress podcasts and am narrowing in on my vision/styles I like. I plan on dress shopping at the end of 2019.

I bought my dress in July and I'm getting married next July. My wedding planning book says to buy your dress 6 to 8 months before your wedding so I felt a little ahead of the game. My bridal consultant actually told me I wasn't too early and that she wishes the wedding planning tools would suggest that brides go shopping a year in advance. It has nothing to do with styles changing or dress regret but rather with seamstress appointments. My dress should be coming in next month and because I might have my dress sooner than another July 2019 bride, I'll definitely be able to get a better appointment with my preferred seamstress. Keep in mind, if you're getting married during busy season that the best seamstresses are likely swamped and you'll want to give them adequate time to alter your dress.

I would start looking at styles you might like now and then going shopping a year out. I went to two bridal salons and I'm actually thankful the first one turned out terrible. They made me try on every type of dress imaginable and at my second salon, I knew what styles I liked and what I definitely didn't like.

My wedding is Feb 2020 and I just said yes to my dress and ordered it last weekend so that’s about 15 months out. My dress is estimated to take about 8-10 months and I’m obsessed with it. Only you know if you’re gonna be more prone to dress regret so you’ll have to decide what’s best for you. Good luck!
