When To Combine Rings???

Star, on June 10, 2019 at 3:57 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
I’m sure it really is a personal preference at the end of the day. But what have y’all done and/or been told/experienced that is the best way to do this? Do you leave your engagement ring separate from wedding band until after you’re married then solder them together? Or do you solder them now in order to help prevent losing the delicate band? Ive heard both ways however I’m just not sure which I’d prefer to do and we’re getting into the home stretch to our date so I was curious and asking now to give myself plenty of time.

It's definitely personally preference. I had two bands (one for each side) specifically made to shape around my low-set halo engagement ring and they do not look right on their own and I would never wear them by themselves, personally, so I knew I definitely wanted them soldered. I personally wanted to wait until pretty close to my wedding date to get them soldered because I knew once they were soldered I wouldn't want to wear them again until the wedding day, but I also knew that I wanted to get them done before the wedding so that during the ceremony he could just put them all on my finger at once and I wouldn't have to be without them after we were married. Again, this is all personal preference. A lot of people do it after the wedding because they don't want to go without their engagement ring before the wedding. I'm getting married next weekend and I brought my rings to the jewelry this past weekend to get soldered. I sit at my desk all day at work and don't do much else during the week so I am just going without my ring until the wedding and it's not a huge deal to me.

I decided not to get my soldered. My wedding band is a plain white gold band and I do wear it alone sometimes since my e-ring's center diamond sits up pretty high. I think it is a personal decision. I like the option to wear mine separately. Mine are not designed to go together but they fit together well so there is no gap.

We are getting married in about 2 weeks. Never thought of soldering the bands together. Won't be doing that

I personally don’t like soldering rings together. I like the option of just wearing my band if I want to. Once they are soldered together, that’s it. You’re stuck with it. Keeping them separate allows you so many options. Band stacking, upgrades, or as I already mentioned, wearing it alone.

FH won't let me solder mine early. We'll do it when we get back from the honeymoon. (I think he also wants me to take some time wearing them before committing to the soldering.)

FWIW, I am definitely on board with soldering, now that I have them. They're an incredibly small and delicate vintage set. The band looks wimpy on it's own, but together, they're absolutely stunning. If I want a band only option, I'll get a plain silver band with no stones. (Not my hand in the photo.)

I'm not planning on soldering mine together. I have the same view as Meghan.

OP, it's a personal decision. There is no right or wrong answer here.

I would personally do it after the wedding. You’ll want to get photos of the rings individually for your shot details.

I had 2 custom bands made for my E-ring, one for either side (pic below). Due to the shape they have an exact spot they need to line up at so for that reason it made sense to solder them together, and I also knew I'd never wear them separately due to the shape. My jeweler also recommended it because he said it reduces the wear and tear on the rings rubbing together. I didn't want to fiddle with 3 rings during the ceremony so I had them soldered a few days before the wedding and just didn't wear them until the ceremony.
