When to call

Emma, on August 4, 2020 at 10:04 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
How long would you wait to call a vendor after sending a email? My venue always responds within 3-5 hours. I emailed my caterer the save time yesterday (8/3) and haven’t heard anything. My fiancé is stressed about the catering. I told him I’d call them tomorrow afternoon (8/5) if they don’t respond by then.

That’s what I thought. If they don’t respond by Wednesday at 10:30 itd be over 48 hours. Which is why I was thinking of calling them that afternoon.

I think give it some time. It took us a while to get in touch with our caterer initially, but I'd definitely call if you don't hear anything by Thursday, but keep in mind they may have events this weekend

Always allow at least 24 - 48 hours for someone to respond. 24 at the least.

If my questions weren’t super important I’d give them like a week but I need to know this answer ASAP. We haven’t heard from them regarding anything with COVID and my FH is worried they might not be able to do our wedding anymore because they are a small business and a lot of small business around here went out if business

If it's a question you need an answer to ASAP, I would suggest calling. That way, you won't have to wait for a response, and you can also ask any follow-up questions and receive a response in the same conversation. Otherwise, I agree with the previous comments. I'd wait at least 24-48 hours for an email reply to a non-urgent question.

That makes sense! I also just realized that I still had her cell number and have texted her questions before. They respond much quicker to text then email, as do most people. I will still probably wait till Wednesday to text her though

24-48 is typical but honestly so many vendors are stressed right now I'd give them to benefit of the doubt right now. Try until Thursday afternoon for now and go from there.
