When to buy plane tickets?

We got two RT tickets for almost the price of one right now last year! granted it was for a May trip, not October. It just seems like so much money. And WW won't let me ETA my original post; this is for the honeymoon! We're actually getting married in WashMo on Oct 6th

Ahh congrats! you're so close, i'm jealous! And Southwest is just as expensive right now as other places, but I like to fly with them when I can. I would be okay with booking the home flight later, but my FH doesn't really have paid time off from work yet, so that could be too risky.

Look at tickets from the Belleville airport (MidAmerica). Little drive but good deals to FL.

I recommend taking a page out of the airline's playbook: hedging. You could buy a Southwest nonstop flight (looks like its about $320/pax for those dates) and if you happen to find a cheaper fare closer to the time, you can always cancel the Southwest ticket and use the credit for another flight.

Did you check southwest I found my cheapest flight with them.

I've read that the most affordable flights are 54 days before takeoff, and on a Sunday. We got lucky and got our tickets from PIT>PUJ, and 54 days before was on a sunday. They were about $30/piece cheaper than the day before we purchased. If you can handle it, I would say wait until at least July-August. But I know that I have a really hard time waiting, especially for things like plane tickets for my honeymoon!
