When to buy fake bouquets?

on December 26, 2020 at 2:14 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 25

Faux flowers!!

Our wedding is June 2022 and the faux bouquet company I love is having a sale! Is it too early to buy them? A lot of people are saying it’s not too early but I worry about them being stored. The deals are SO good! I asked the seller and she said they'll be totally fine. When to buy fake bouquets? 1

Thanks guys 🙂

I would be afraid that they would get dusty but that is my opinion if the seller said they should be fine then I think it would be okay

Yeah! And I was worried about them like falling apart but I talked to my mom and she said hers from 30 years ago is still intact. Idk I’m a worry wart but I feel like I can’t start planning anything and I want stuff checked off!

Can’t I just dust them off? They’ll be stored. I promise I’m not being sarcastic I’m genuinely curious!

Faux flowers last a long time as long as they’re stored away from sunlight and at room temp. Also as long as they’re stored in a sealed container they won’t get dusty. My grandmas bouquet was faux and I’m using some of her flowers for my bouquet so if you have to money for it and its a good deal I say go for it!

As above. They fade fast in sunlight, and not evenly. buy drawstring white kitchen bags, and store with bouquets right side up, not crushed. And do not put them in a hot or cold storage place. Hani g from bag drawstrings on hangers works fine, if you have closet space.

Yes, flowers can absolutely be dusted. However, if you keep them stored away in a container, they shouldn’t get dusty or fade

I’d be worried about that because shipping and placement can take 2 months in itself!

If you can properly store them so that they stay in good condition before the big day, then it's never too early! 🙂

I should’ve added, they’re not going to just sit out in the sun lol we’re going to keep them wrapped in boxes and in our closet.

They will get dusty, which defeats the purpose of fake flowers and preventing allergies. I would get them no earlier than 3 months before the wedding.

I got mine early and stored them in multiple bags that were sealed so dust couldn’t get into them

I have my fake flowers (sola) for my September 2021 wedding. They are in a plastic bag and in a box so they don’t get dusty.

If you have room to store them in sealed containers, I don't think dust or fading are issues. Especially with everything that has happened this year, my biggest concern would be that your plans or choices may change in the next 18 months and something you choose now may not be what you want when the time comes. The only thing daughter "wasted" money on while planning her wedding were things she bought very early -- typically because they were on sale/a great price -- only to find that she changed her mind closer to the wedding.

PS -- also, if the vendor is having an "amazing sale" now, they'll likely have others in the future.

Since your wedding is 18 months away, I would wait until next Black Friday/after Christmas. A really good sale is not, in my opinion, enough to justify buying them this far in advance. I can tell you're really excited and really want to buy them, lol, so here is my reasoning:

    - They will take up space in your house/create clutter for a year and a half

    - Your tastes may change (yes, really!) between now and your wedding/you may see something you like better

    - They may get dusty/fade

    - You might realize you need more, or fewer

    - There may be a better sale next year

    - Even if there isn't a better sale, you could have made more money than you saved by investing the money now and buying the flowers later

Take it from someone who started buying decor in 2019 for her 2020, now 2021 wedding!

All of this, 100%! So much stuff I bought and then realized I could have gotten a better deal if I waited, or that what I purchased wasn't what I really liked best.

I bought my fake ones a year in advance. They’re in boxes in the basement. The company just said keep them out of humid or hot areas and out of sunlight. They’ll be fine.
