When to bustle

My wedding dress has a chapel length train and a detachable skirt. I want to wear the skirt for the wedding ceremony and for a few pictures, however, I want everyone to see the dresses reason without the skirt as well.

The stylist at the bridal shoppe mentioned leaving the train down for the grand entrance and cake cutting, then bustling it maybe before or during dinner. Has anyone done this before? Is it feasible to bustle the dress before dinner or during courses? I really want to do this but I don't want anything to happen to the train either.

Cake cutting comes after dinner at most receptions. I also wouldn’t want to dance with my train, but I guess it depends on the length. I personally would bustle before the reception.

I did mine before entering the reception. But we went right into our first dance and then dinner. I wouldn’t want to dance with my train down.
We didn’t do our cake cutting until maybe an hr before the reception was over.

Thanks everyone! To clarify - I definitely don't want to dance with the train down. I mostly just want it down for the grand entrance.

I plan to do the grand entrance, cake cutting, speeches, dinner and then the dances.

Was thinking about bustling before the dances at some point.

Do whatever you want to do but practice with the person doing your bustle to cut down the time so that you can make it fast! Wont they see the train during your ceremony?

I think that you could do that. You may need to step out *during* dinner while your guests are being served or eating to go bustle your dress. People will be busy eating and won’t notice you step out for 10 minutes

Only thing with that is, make sure you make time in the schedule for YOU to eat something at some point!
