When to Bustle?

I’m having mine bustled right before entering the reception (which leads into our first dance), as I have a very long train. We are taking couple portraits beforehand (while guests are at cocktail hour), but we also slipping away around sunset (after dinner/cake cutting) for additional photos. With that being said, we’ll have photos of when my dress is unbustled and bustled.

I plan on doing it right before the reception- first dance is typically done with the dress bustled because of the risk of tripping on the train (which is high even if the train is short).

Most do it after pictures but before entering the reception. I seen a bride who's bustle wasn't pinned up right and slipped as she was making her grand entrance and she slipped on it and fell. She played it off well to were people didn't notice fell and thought she was just dancing until after she told us.

Most people bustle before the reception! You take the post-ceremony photos with your bridal party and family, then you bustle.


We'll be doing all our portraits before the ceremony, so I'll bustle right after my ceremony but that will still be right before my reception!

I will probably do it before the ceremony. I would’ve love to have it down for dances but the back is so long one of us will for sure step on it 😅

I had mine down after the ceremony & our couples pics. We bustled it before family photos so it was up when we made our grand entrance & for the reception.
