Haha, funny you should say this because we booked our honeymoon SUPER early and ended up changing our minds like 5 different times lol. Luckily we were able to cancel the airfare and get most of our money back. But I really wish we hadn't rushed into booking the honeymoon. Initially we wanted to do something BIG and exciting... we planned a 10-day trip to Italy. Still sounds like an amazing trip but, 1 year before the wedding, I was much more ambitious about how much energy I would have. As soon as we got into the stress and tediousness of planning a wedding, I realized that I wouldn't even enjoy Italy as much because I'd already be so exhausted, and a trip like that (while wonderful) would exhaust me even more. Now we're going to the Bahamas where I can just lay on the beach and get some much-needed rest!

Not saying this exact thing would happen to you lol, but I would wait until you get a little closer so you'll know how you're feeling and what type of trip you will want after the wedding!

I wanted a Europe trip too! Thankfully my FH is super smart (haha) and told me after planning this I would not be in the tourist mentality and convinced me to do a more relaxed honeymoon, with possibility to still hike/bike/etc. Did you end up settling a year out or waited even more? I just don't want to wait too long because then prices hike up Smiley atonished

We actually didn't settle until 3-4 months before! We were super indecisive hahaha. Luckily though since we are going in June that isn't high tourist season in the Bahamas so it wasn't difficult to get a flight or a room.

If you want to book things early to get better prices that's a good idea but I'd just make sure everything is refundable if you're worried about changing your mind!

We're getting married on Leap Day next year and are going on our honeymoon 2 days after the wedding. We booked our flights for our honeymoon to Turks & Caicos about a month ago. FH & I really wanted to go somewhere warm, and American had a good deal on their flights to Turks & Caicos when we booked. If you haven't looked into Turks & Caicos, do!! Grace Bay (one of the main beaches) is consistently ranked the top beach in the world. It's beautiful there, and most people go to relax so it's perfect for a honeymoon!!

We're taking a cruise to the eastern carribbean for our honeymoon. It was recommended to us to book as early as we can to get the best prices. We are just over a year out now, and I'm making an appointment with the travel agent for next week.

But there's no way we're changing our minds, because this is something we've both wanted to do for a long time. So no honeymoon regrets. lol

I'm getting married in October this year and our destination of choice is Japan! I wasn't sure when else we'd plan this kind of trip so this seemed like a great opportunity to go! I was looking at ticket prices (currently 5 months out), but getting some advice from a globetrotter friend of my mom's, there are better prices to come in a few months. I'm pretty anxious but he's been traveling the world for years, so I guess I should trust him... Earlier is not always better, supposedly! These days there's some kind of sweet spot between booking too soon or too late.

We haven't given any thought to hotels yet though, since we're planning a multicity trip from Osaka to Tokyo.

It definitely helps to get in touch with someone you know who travels a lot, or look around travel forums or something like Reddit. There's a lot of advice articles around too but I feel like they get outdated pretty quickly.

I love looking at articles, reviews, reddit, but I also get overwhelmed by them because I look at way too many. We have decided to wait a little longer until booking. Looking for that happy median Smiley winking
