When to book hair and makeup?

Amy Louise, on November 17, 2019 at 8:48 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 18

Our wedding is June 2020. How do I start the process of finding make up and hair? That may sound silly, but my hair dresser doesn’t do bridal and all my friends have been married for years (2nd marriage for me).

How far out did you book both and how did you go about researching?

Thanks ladies!!

Find another hair dresser? There's many people out there that do bridal makeup and hair.

Start searching now. Google, wedding expos, asking friends, asking other vendors you’ve hired for recommendations . Where I live the great HMUA are booked a year or more in advance.

I booked my MUA/hair stylist a year before the wedding. The original MUA I wanted was already booked. I would book as soon as possible especially if your wedding is during wedding season.

I booked my hair stylist over the summer and my MUA last month for my July 2020 wedding. I primarily used Instagram to find my people. I used a hashtag that focused on regional wedding hair/makeup and contacted the people whose work I liked repeatedly.

I just booked mine last week for our September 12, 2020 wedding. I knew I needed someone to come on sight. We have an early start time (11 AM ceremony) so I knew I’d need either someone with several people available same time, or to hire separate hair and makeup, so I wanted to get on it early (a lot of people do it as a solo job).

I used the knot to see the highest rated hair and MUA near me, checked out their portfolios, and price lists, then reached out for booking.

My wedding is May 2nd 2020 and I started looking for a makeup artist and hair stylist just recently. I’ve asked my Bridesmaids to give me any acquainted suggestions to look into. I should be able to choose this by the end of this month.

I am getting married in June 2020 and just booked mine a couple of weeks ago. I am in a Fb wedding group for my area and saw them there as well as looked on here and The Knot.

Honestly, book now. Since you're less than a year away, I would start booking all of your vendors. Booking early is never a problem... booking late is.

Ooof. You should be booking this *now*. When I started researching hair and makeup vendors in August (9 months out), a good number were already booked for my desired date.

All of artists I looked at were recommended by my wedding coordinator, and I used Wedding Wire and Yelp reviews to back up said recommendations.

I’m beginning to start asking around for quotes now. I plan to book by December so I can get a trial in. I’m also a June 2020 bride.

My hair stylist was a junior stylist at the salon I get my leg/eyebrow waxing done at 😂 My normal hair dresser doesn’t do weddings either and he didn’t have anyone to recommend at his salon (lol) but my wax lady who works at a different salon recommended one of the girls there 🤷🏻‍♀️ She was absolutely fantastic. Especially because I only wanted my hair done (one of my bridesmaids was doing her own and the other girls’ hair) it was difficult to find someone who would come out to only do 1 person’s hair. But since she was a junior stylist she was able to do that, and didn’t charge an arm and a leg, AND gave me a free trial so I knew she’d do a fantastic job which she did ☺️
