When to ask bridesmaids? Ring bearer/flower girl?

bridetobe, on February 17, 2015 at 12:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

I'm getting married April 23, 2016, when should I ask my girls to be bridesmaids?

Should I ask the ring bearer/flower girl parents in a special way too?

I'm not planning to 'formally' ask till September/October of this year for my oct 2016 wedding.

I would say wait a while. If I had picked my bridesmaids a year and a half before my wedding I think the list may have been a little different. A lot can change in that amount of time.

I asked mine within the first 2 weeks of my engagement, but we also are only having a 10 month engagement so I wanted to get started on things right away.

I wouldn't ask more than a year in advance. I have been engaged for over 3 years, and 3 years ago I asked a friend to be my MOH. Is she even in my life anymore? Nope.

Definitely don't ask more than a year in advance. There's a LOT of bridesmaid drama on these boards, so you want to be 100% absolutely sure. I had a 2 year engagement and knew right away who I wanted to ask, but I waited until 10-12 months before the wedding. Plus, there's no real reason why you have to ask any earlier. It's not like they need a dress that far in advance.
