When should the rsvp cut-off be?

Abigail, on February 24, 2020 at 11:32 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

I am getting married this year on July 25th in Arkansas, but almost my entire family is from the east coast which is between 10 and 15 hours away... meaning basically anyone from my family that is able to attend will be driving quite the distance or paying airfare, as well as having to book a hotel room. I am wondering when I should request that guests RSVP by, considering it is essentially a destination wedding for my entire side of the guest list? I am doing RSVPs online through my wedding website, so I won't have to worry about losing any paper RSVPs... is July 1st a good due date for guests? Too late? Too soon? Any help/advice is appreciated as I am currently working on invitations to get them ordered asap! Thanks everyone! Smiley smile

I think this also depends on when your venue needs a final count by

I agree that it depends on when your final headcount is due. As long as it’s the typical 1-2 weeks, July 1st is fine.

Personally my cut off is going to be 2 months before the date. It depends on what makes you most comfortable. Mines is a destination wedding too. Family and friends are flying from Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia and New Jersey going all the way to Las Vegas. I️ need to know who has committed to their hotels/flights.

July 1 is good that gives you time to get headcount back. The RSVPs don't really affect is being a destination wedding for them, they need time to book things which hopefully you sent save the dates out or let them know accommodations already

I was in the same situation. We made sure anyone traveling knew the dates way ahead of time to make travel arrangements etc. The RSVPS were due a month before. By then we pretty much knew who was coming from out of the country anyway.

We have an RSVP date of June 20 for an August 1 wedding. This gives us time to make any calls or send messages to anyone who hasn't RSVP'd on time. Smiley smile I would go with maybe the end of May or beginning of June.

Check when all vendors need a final headcount. Our caterer needs final numbers a month before so we made our cutoff 5 weeks out to give us a buffer for late RSVPs.

When is your final headcount due? My RSVP date was 3 weeks before my wedding because my headcount was due 2 weeks before. This gave me me time to get my RSVP's in and contact anyone I was still missing a RSVP from.

Our cut off was Monday, which is roughly a month before our wedding! Our caterer needs a final head count by March 7th Smiley smile

I would say July 1 would be a good cutoff date!
