When should i wedding dress shop with Covid-19?

Haley, on August 18, 2020 at 5:58 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Hello all!
My wedding is 10/01/2021. It’s obvious that we don’t know when the pandemic will officially end so I’m just trying to think ahead. When do you think is a good time to wedding dress shop and get dresses for the bridesmaids? I heard some brides have been dealing with further delays due to the pandemic so I wanted to see if anyone knew a decent time-frame to shop. I hope everyone is safe, happy, and healthy! Wishing everyone happy planning!

You can always start dress shopping within the next couple of months. I would definitely start soon because like you mentioned Covid can cause delays. As for the bridesmaids dresses they can wait until next spring

I bought my dress for my October 2020 wedding in November 2019. It came in, in February 2020. There may be delays in processing and shipping so I'd probably start shopping a year out, maybe more, just to be safe. Same for bridesmaids dresses.

I think you can definitely start soon. A lot of people get their dresses year before

I would recommend starting to look around online now at dresses, at very minimum to get an idea of what styles you like and what you'd want to try on. I'd recommend also going to try on dresses in stores sometimes in the next month or two. You've got plenty of time, but with COVID causing delays everywhere, I'd suggest ordering a dress a few months before you normally would have.

I’d start now. My brother-in-law just got engaged and I told his fiancée to book their venue then start shopping (for Sept 2021 wedding). Totally find to buy 12 months out. Mine took 7-8 months to arrive, pre-Covid (and there are more customs laws/delays too). I’d try to try to buy 9-12 months before your wedding.

My wedding is October 2, 2021. I purchased mine at the end of July.
I’m a teacher and, until recently, had no idea what fall would look like and planned to minimize my contact with others. I also have a lot more time in the summers. Since everything with Covid is so up in the air, ensuring I’d have the right dress felt more pressing than it probably would have otherwise.

I went dress shopping 9 months before my wedding and the first salon told me I needed to order a dress ASAP. This was right before COVID. Then I went to another salon, where I did end up ordering my dress. Except it wasn’t technically ordered and MADE until 4 months before my wedding. This salon designed their own dresses and proudly boosted that they were all American made. I was losing weight so I was told to come back 4 months before the wedding to get remeasured and they would rush order the dress for free. All their dress were made to order and could be made in as little as 4 months. I was so happy to find this place because COVID shut everything down, including the factories that were making all the wedding dresses in China. My dress, which was made in ST Louis, was done in 2.5 months.
