Hi everyone! Im getting married on October 28, 2022. Im not entirely sure when I should start planning everything. Here's what im thinking so far: We have our venue, photographer and my makeup artist booked! And in September of this year I think I'm going to go dress shopping! But im sure when I should start booking vendors like food, dj, etc... when did you guys begin? And is soon better?

So our engagement was only 11 months so we booked everything within the first two months. I personally think it is better to book vendors sooner rather than later especially since a lot of people postponed their weddings.

I booked my main vendors right away. Especially with so many people rescheduling with covid I knew I had to book early. Dress I did same timing as you (about a year out). Bridesmaid dresses and suits I’m doing now for July.

We also booked our main vendors right after the venue: photographer/videographer, HMUA, and DJ. Food is included with our venue so we didn't have to worry about that.

I'm getting married October 30th, 2022 and only have my venue booked - they do catering and cake in house so don't have to worry about that. I'm thinking I'll go dress shopping in November - otherwise I'm just getting ideas for save the dates and bridesmaid dresses. Also not doing a DJ so I'm not really much help haha. I'm thinking sooner the better, especially with a lot of couples rebooking because of COVID.

Start with the biggest vendors after you secure your venue as soon as you can to get the ones you want. In no particular order: photographer, food , dj, officiant, dresses and alterations. Everything beyond that can be done as you go. Do not book any caterer/baker without tasting first because you do not want to get locked into bad food you can't get out of (which is a negative against venues that only allow tastings after booking).

Our date is 15 Oct 2022 and we’ve already booked the venue. I was worried that 2022 would fill up fast due to rescheduling. But now that we’ve got that taken care of I’m going to wait till the the fall to really dig in to planning. But..that’s because our venue includes everything but cake and decor.

Yes, you have time! I’m not super worried about locking things in right now but towards the end of the year I’ll get more serious planning. Right now I’m just browsing and getting ideas so I’m not rushing to do things later.
