Just Said Yes September 2021

When should i start my diys?

Kelsey, on August 6, 2020 at 11:50 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13
I have a FULL list of DIY projects to do for my wedding in September of 2021 including:

A timeline of events on a big piece of glass that I’ll make with my cricut
Table numbers on smaller glass (also cricut)
Monogrammed champagne flute favors (cricut)
Vows written on glass (cricut)
Possibly 8 other signs (all cricut diys)
A glass card box
Monogrammed linens
Monogrammed napkin ties
Possibly my own bouquet
6 DIY centerpieces
My own veil
A wooden arch for the ceremony and a flower garland to go on it
Possibly also a diy dance floor
Am I overloading myself or do I have enough time?? Also, when should I start making all of this? Should I space it out?

Maybe if you set goals for yourself like it looks like you have enough things to do for each month til your wedding. So I definitely would start now even though somethings might take you longer than others

🙇🏽‍♀️I’m working on diy stuff for my 2022 wedding. But I’m also not working right now and want to be productive. My next project is to make signs out of cabinet doors. Lol

I would start earlier than you think you need to, just in case some things take longer or don't turn out as planned. That way, you'll have some extra time built in. I'd recommend starting with the biggest project first, and work down to the smallest/easiest project.

You have plenty of time and a just fine list of diy! We are also diy all our signs, seating chart, centerpieces, arch, card box, cake stand. And more. Our goal is to do a little something every weekend. Like one weekend we cut wood. Next weekend we sanded and stained then assembled. If you break it all up into smaller tasks and tasks that go together like cut a bunch of criuct pieces and the next day separate them all out and clean the glass for them to go on. If you don’t try to do it all at once you’ll be fine and won’t get overwhelmed! You got this!

Start now to allow yourself plenty of time. That's one of the factors many people don't consider when DIY is that time and sanity = money. Hence it works for some and not others. Only you know what your abilities are and not everything has to be homemade by you if it's too overwhelming or time-consuming.

I would start now and space out projects. That way you can take your time and enjoy the process rather then getting stressed out from having to time crunch.

I've been working on our DIY stuff for a year and a half. 16 days out and struggling to get the finishing touches done and the last couple of projects completed.

I would definitely start now since it looks like you have a pretty big list. This gives you time instead of trying to pack it all in at the end.

You should start ASAP., that’s slot but you do have enough time. Start with the smaller things first (cause it’ll be easier to store) then you can dedicate more time to the bigger things and know how much time you’ll need to do them

I am diying my entire wedding also. We got engaged last December and I have already made my center pieces, bouquets and almost all my other pieces for decor 🤷🏼‍♀️ Never to soon to start I think! Better to start and finish and hold on to it then stress about it later I think

    Hi there,
I definitely say get started. I am also a sept 2021 bride and I’ve got some diy stuff started and lots of things have either involved more researching of materials then I thought I’d be doing or are more complex then I originally thought. Doesn’t hurt to get started sooner and keep it safe in storage and it’s one less thing you have to worry about as the date gets closer! ☺️

I decided to get a jump start on my diy projects. Now my guest bedroom is just a hot mess- full of wedding stuff. I significantly underestimated how much room everything would take. So maybe start on smaller projects first?
