I’d call and ask them how long it’ll take

I just had mine done with Zales - April 4th! - so it took about two weeks. I needed to get both resized too, so I figured I might as well get everything done at once. Might take less time for just soldering, but I would definitely ask.

I actually never got my soldered together. It hasn't been a problem so far.

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your reason behind soldering your rings? I see a few posts about it every so often and never quite understood the reasoning. I didn’t do it for my first marriage and definitely don’t plan to do it with my current rings. However, I very curious to understand why it’s done instead of leaving them separate.

Interesting, I didn't realize soldering rings together was something people did

I did it because it truly makes the rings look like one cohesive ring. I also would prefer the solid base of knowing that both important rings are bonded together. I think it's just a preference- I never intend to wear one without the other, so why not have them bonded together?

Some insurance companies won't cover 2 rings unless they are. That's what we've always been told.

I just dont like the feel of 2 rings.

OK gotcha! I’m the opposite... I have a three ring set with diamonds on each of the 3 rings. So I like changing the order (ie. putting that e-ring in the middle or sometimes having the e-ring in the front etc) to change up the look for however I’m feeling that day. So soldering wouldn’t be an option in my situation.

It is definitely personal preference. I am actually having mine done the week before my wedding. My band and e-ring don’t stay together otherwise due to the shape of my band. It has a curve that fits around my e-ring so if I don’t solder them together they get twisted and look ridiculous.

Ah that makes sense. My band and engagement ring don't fit together like that or anything so I had never considered that

I didn’t get mine soldered together and never would. But I would call the jeweler and ask them their opinion.

I say it all depends on how you want to wear your rings. If they are intertwined and would never be worn one without the other then soldering makes sense. Stacking is the style today and if not soldered you can wear which ever combination in which ever order

Whatever decision you make I would take your engagement ring back to the store to have it refinished to make it look brand new and match you brand new wedding/anniversary band.

I work at a jewelry store and our policy is to bring them in a week beforehand. I would contact your specific jeweler and see what they prefer.

I don't plan on doing it, but if I did, after the wedding. Idk, it just seems more traditional
