When should i have my rsvp deadline?

BlushWedding, on March 12, 2018 at 12:25 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
Hi all!
So both the wedding wire and the knot checklists say I should be “finding/ordering” my wedding invitations this week for my August 31 wedding. So I’m playing around online with invitation suites I like, and I got to the RSVP date and didn’t know what to put. My venue does not require final numbers until 4 days before the event; however, I want to order place cards online with printed names on them from minted for my seating chart. The problem is, I won’t know everyone’s guest name until the RSVPs are back I would assume? Of course I would know the majority of my guests, but there’s probably 10-12 individuals not in relationships that we gave a +1 (family and out of town guests). When do you think an appropriate RSVP date would be? I was thinking August 10th, but that kind of seems too soon, but then when I think of ordering the place cards I just don’t know!

I'd say 4 weeks before is a good mix of not too early, but still plenty of time for you to call anyone that hasn't responded and order the place cards.

ETA - Definitely don't think Aug 10 is too early; I'd actually recommend Aug 3. 3 or 4 weeks are pretty much the norm, and considering you have the extra step of place cards, I would certainly not side-eye having to commit 4 weeks before Smiley smile

Yeah def don't worry that it's too early. Our deadline was yesterday, and we still had about 100 people that hadn't replied!! Oooooh we have some work cut out for us now, very glad we didn't set it any later Smiley laugh

My RSVPs are due six weeks before the wedding. Mostly because final numbers are due to the caterer four weeks before. Give yourself enough time to wrangle those who don't meet the deadline as well as ordering the placecards.

Our RSVP is a month before and we need numbers to the venue 2 weeks before so try a month before so you can track down anyone who did not RSVP by the due date.

Ours is 4weeks from our wedding date. Our invitations are going out next week. To be honest I’m not calling anyone who have not RSVPd by the deadline. It’s too
mucj work to track down people to ask if they’re coming. If they want to be there, they’ll RSVP in a timely manner.
