When should i buy my dress.

I keep hearing you should buy about 9 months out. I'm most likely buying from David's Bridal because they have plus size and usually have stuff you don't have to order. I made an appointment for May when I was at a bridal fair a few months ago. I would like to lose a few pounds before the wedding. Our wedding is 9-23-23 so May would be 16 months out. Would it be a good idea to wait longer?

I honestly would wait longer to purchase it orrrr you can always get it in May and have them alter it down to your new size when it gets closer to the time? I ordered mine last month and I’m getting married on 12/2/22 and they said the dress would arrive by July so total it will take like 5 month to arrive and alterations in guessing will take another month or 2🤷🏽‍♀️

It depends on how much you think you’ll lose. I ordered mine in January from a boutique and got it last month for my October wedding. But I know I’m slow with weight loss and whatever I lose they’ll only have to take in maybe a size or two at most

It depends on if your dress is in stock. I ordered several wedding gowns from davids bridal and they all shipped the next day.

As far as alterations, I began my alterations before Covid and then had to postpone the wedding and then I gained weight and it all had to be changed. It was stressful. My particular seamstress was very busy but suggested my pick up date be about a month prior to my wedding. So I could have technically brought it to her 3 months prior to my wedding.

I guess what I mean to say is sometimes alterations are better to be done closer to the wedding day because anything could happen in that long period of time between now and ur wedding
