When ladies marry ladies - The Last Name Dilemma - solved!

Guys! We figured out our last name dilemma! We have been going back and forth on our last name change... it’s been so hard because there’s so many options. Do we take her last name... my last name.. hyphen them.. make up a new one... use a middle name... my grandmas maiden name... it’s been such a journey! I talked with my love, friends, colleagues, family, God, myself...

Well, we figured it out! Of course, this is just for us and I love that we all have choices Smiley smile. I’m taking her last name as my middle name and she’s taking mine as her last name! We both get to take each other’s names! It’s perfect... she’s more traditional and I’m very non-traditional so it even fits the perfect blend of tradition vs non-traditional too! We couldn’t be happier and I just wanted to share!

    We kept our own names. Then again, we kept our own names in my first marriage, which was to a man, too.

    Congratulations on finding a compromise!!! Im still going back and forth with what name I wanted to take as well. I’m divorced and my kiddos have my ex-husband name. I didn’t know if I should keep it or hyphen my name, plus keep my hyphen maiden name!!! My name would be super-long!!! But it would definitely drive people insane!!!!

    I love that idea! A friend of mine is marrying her FW in October and they toyed around with the idea of hyphenating, but she has such a long name (Vandevander) that they'll both be taking the last name Berry Smiley smile

    I love this so much! This is a hot button issue for many friends of our as well. We pretty much knew right away what we wanted to do, we just needed to figure out the order. We both kept our sons names after our divorces and we knew we wanted to change that. I want to honor my family by going back to my maiden name, but her middle and last name is the same as a loud person in politics we can't stand so she's taking the original version of her grandmother's maiden name. Her name will come first and is very Irish, mine is very French and the combination is pretty perfect for us.

    What a great idea! Smiley heart I honestly wish something like that was more the norm.

    My FH is pretty traditional when it comes to this particular convention, so I've decided to take his last name, but I'm going to miss mine.

    My last name is Myers, my kids last name is Tippit and my FH's is McNally. I've always said jokingly that I never belonged. I am so happy to be taking the McNally name! If I shared my boys last name it would have been a much harder decision.

    Ya girl, we talked about the hyphen but that was going to be too long for us.. so I went with four names 😂. Whatever works! Lol
