Most companies, not all, take about 4 months for a wedding dress. After you get it you'll need time for alterations, probably another month. I would check with the store to see their time line on the dress. Probably no later than January. Early January, not late Jan. I know that most companies offer a rush service, but you will have to pay for that too if you wait to long.

Agree with both above, it depends on where you get it from. My dress was ordered in July, and it'll be here no later than Jan 2. But I still have a bustle that needs to be done. If I were you, I'd order it by the end of Nov.

I usually hear that you should order 4-6 months ahead of time. When I went and bought my dress, the bridal salon told me it would take 6 months but instead it only took about 4 months.

You need to leave time for alterations and bustle. And if you're having bridal portraits done. If you go the Alfred Angelo route you could wait til Jan, but I think that's pushing it.

I ordered my Maggie in June 2010, they said it would get in by December, that's six months.

It really depends on where you are getting your dress from. Most places tell you it takes 4 months to get a dress in. I bought mine discontinued and one of the other locations just happened to have it in stock in my size. It was shipped to me and I got it in 2 weeks.

But that's rare. If your'e wedding is in May- I'd say you should definitely order it ASAP!

Ooooh girly it totally depends on how long your particular dress takes to make. I ordered mine in mid August and it isn't suppose to ship until December 10th! My coworker's dress was supposed to be in in November but she got her's in September (2-3 weeks after she ordered.) Mine is almost all lace, her's is all satin... it totally depends on what it is made of and the designer. If you've picked your dress out then go ahead and order it. Better safe then sorry... and only pay half up front... never pay the whole thing... just in case something goes wrong...

I ordered from AA and it has to be made so they said about 10-14 weeks. Your wedding is right after mine, I would try to order asap if I were you. It's better to be safe than sorry. Rather plenty of time than last minute.

where are you planning on shopping at?

I only have 1 bridal shop in town and trying to find some that aren't too far away. Then I was thinking about going to david's bridal which is half an hour away.

Well it took my dress 5 months to come in, because it was made to order. I would say order it six months in advance. That way you don't have to stress about your dress being ready.

I would definitely order it ASAP. Even if it only takes 4 months to get your specific dress in you still have to allow time for the alterations. Definitely get out there as soon as you can!

And as a side note, it did take about one month for alterations on mine (together with multiple appoinments for various dress fittings).

It toke me 4mons to get mine in so if i was you i'd order real soon, cause when it comes to time you may not get the dress you want in time or you'll wind up paying extra money to get it shipped faster
