When is it too late to reach out to your photographer?

Hi all,

So I've been married for just about a year now, our first anniversary is on 1/18, we are so excited!

However, I have not printed or framed any of our wedding pics yet. I know, I'm a bad newlywed.. I literally want to print every picture though, so it will take me quite some time.

When I looked back through them this evening, I noticed there is not a single nice shot of both my husband and I facing forward, just him and I. I'm kind of bummed about this. My question is... is it too late for me to reach back out to the photographers and ask if they might have one in their files? We have tons of pictures, but I want one that will celebrate both of us. It's almost been a year, is it too late? Thanks in advance!

    Uhhh...
If anything, I would contact your photographer ASAP.Most photographers only give you a small deadline to save your photos before they permanently delete them.A year, without any communication, is a long time. In my opinion, I don't think they'll still have them.Again, I would just ask 🤷‍♀️

Not sure why the "Uhhh" reaction is necessary. We have plenty of beautiful shots, I just noticed this one style of shot is missing from the photos. The photos are still accessible to me, so they do still have them. Thank you for your insight.

Just adding here, I didn't not contact the photographer since my wedding at all. That would be incredibly stupid. I was in touch with him through the summer. This is a simple question I had pertaining to one style of shot that the photographer may or may not still have.

FYI Daughter's professional photographs included full download rights to all edited photos -- so for her, that was about 1100 pictures. However, if she wanted access to the files for ALL the photos taken (estimated to be about 8000+ raw images...), her contract was clear that she'd have to meet with the photographer within 3 months of the wedding date -- bringing a large enough portable drive with her to hold all those files -- to download them. Because that many photo files take up so much storage space, her photographer deletes all the unedited images after 3 months. If there's nothing in your contract about maintenance of raw images, certainly check with your photographer but they may be gone. Good luck!

It doesn’t hurt to ask. Worst they can say is no, they don’t have them. Good luck!
