When is it too late to change my mind?

Hopiate, on August 31, 2017 at 3:31 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

I ordered my wedding dress about two months ago and then basically forgot about planning a wedding. It just came today (Edit: my dress is perfect) and suddenly, wedding planning is back in my life.

Well going over my "planning" I had done previously, I'm slightly disillusioned by my choices. I want a completely different color scheme and vibe. And now I'm a little panicked, because what if give or take a few months, I change my mind again?

Maybe this is far enough out I honestly shouldn't worry, but I guess I'm wondering, am I the only fickle bride here?

If you can afford to pay for another dress, it's never too late. you're probably stuck with selling it somewhere at a fraction of what you paid for it

@LillyBean I forgot to clarify, my dress is absolutely amazing and I love it!

My previous color scheme, not so much. Though I am out the money I spent on my previous invitation designs, that was only about $50.

If you aren't out a ton of money, there's nothing wrong with scrapping your plans and starting over. I scrapped everything I thought I wanted when I realized that I wanted a certain caterer and that I just couldn't have this caterer if I went with the hotel ballroom wedding we had agreed on early in our relationship. I wouldn't worry about things too much, though I would say to start with a loose general idea rather than a narrow one then you can more easily change things if your tastes differ later.

I changed my mind constantly. It's okay to find something else you like! Just don't buy everything too terribly early, like right now. I'd choose colors right now but I'd wait until like February to start thinking about decor. We have a ton of different colors: light pink, blush, dusty rose, wine, ivory, green, beiges, oranges, reds. Our colors very similar but we really don't have set colors, so we had a lot of options for decor. But it's up to you and what you'd like!

I kept changing mine as well! Haven't spent money though. Only a little at Michaels to make mock up's of things and then realize I don't want them...lol. Our venue is small and it's a blank slate so I could change my mind all day every day and it won't matter. As long as I can figure it out before the wedding day! Ha!

Uh, I changed my mind on a VENUE and was out $800. It happens! I really try to follow the make a decision and never look back policy but sometimes you really do need to reconsider if it will have a big impact on your day or you/your guests ability to enjoy it! Good luck!

I've changed my mind on shoes several times. I'm only out about $50 though. I decided to wait to buy anymore shoes until I need them for my fittings!

I think as long as you have the time and aren't out a time of money, go for it!! If you aren't heavily invested in the current color scheme I see no problem with changing!!

I switched my colors five or six times in the beginning of my wedding planning, but I kept leaning towards one color scheme throughout the debate, and that's the one I chose!

I've been engaged for a year and a half, and I've got another year to go. I've already changed my mind lots of times, and I'm sure I will again! If you're only out the $50 for invitations, don't worry about it!

My invites didn't matchmaking color scheme at all. You could keep them as-is, change the scheme for actual day-of stuff like decor, and not be out any money!

I'm in the same boat. I plan sporadically, started with a succulent plan for florals and now I want something softer so I'm thinking about scrapping what I have and starting fresh. I think sometimes the best things evolve through editing and redirection and in the end it will be something I love.

I found what helped me was deciding on a particular feature that I loved and absolutely had to have, like my center pieces, and then I started planning out from there making sure all of the other details would correlate but not be matchy matchy.
