When is it ok to throw an engagement party when it’s a long engagement plan?

Why not?

I got engaged april of this year and had our engagement party the end of july and we are getting married june 20, 2015

The engagement party is usually thrown by parents to announce the engagement. So, it should be soon after the engagement.

That allows time for showers to be held shortly before the wedding.

It should be within a couples months of the engagement or as soon as possible if you're having one.

Hold the party soon, then hold the bridal shower in 2014.

We already had our engagement party. If we waited any longer it wouldn't really be an "engagement party." We do plan on having several other get togethers to just hangout with family before the wedding.

We got engaged October 2011, had our engagement party July 2012 since we wanted an outdoor backyard thing and my friend would be down from France. I was so anxious to do something wedding related and still had quite a ways to go so whatever we had one when we wanted and now look i'm less than 9 months away ahhh, time seriously flies!

The engagement party is usually close to the engagement. We got engaged in July 2012 and my parents hosted our engagement party in October 2012.

So an engagement party for Feb of 2014 and wedding May 2015... Does this sound ok? Or tooooo long of a gap?
