When Flower Girls Give Out Flowers Instead of Dropping Petals

amandal0514, on March 1, 2016 at 11:29 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

We're having a small and informal wedding. We're not doing flower petals because of the location so I was wanting to have my daughter hand out some flowers to the women attending and I had a few questions.

We have 17 women . Should I get a flower for each of them and should my daughter hand them out to them all?

What would she carry them in? Regular flower girl baskets seem too small.

Would purple carnations be appropriate (if I can find them in a darker shade of purple) or should I find something more special?

Any other suggestions?

What is the setup going to be in your ceremony space? How will flower girl be able to reach each woman in a timely fashion?

Ya that might take a while. I like the idea that @matt suggested. She could keep a flower each (or a bunch each) and give them to your 2 mothers at the front of the aisle. She could keep them in a basket or carry them like bouquets herself. I think that would be really nice.

If she gives one to every person she may be stopped awkwardly in the aisle for a while.

If you want to do this, have your daughter hand them out as the ladies enter for the ceremony. It doesn't seem like a lot, but handing out 17 flowers will take longer than it sounds.

    Carnations are nice Smiley smile

Or just handing them to the ladies seated at the end of the rows as she walks down the aisle?

The flowers are nice. How old is your daughter? If she is over 5 I would have them not too long and I would just have her hold them lose by themselves. She should just hand to the people next to the aisle as she goes down so it is not awkward.
