When do you take off your engagement ring? 💍

Depending on your pre-proposal jewelry habits, adjusting to wearing an engagement ring can be a little tough! When do you take off your wedding ring? Do you take it off to sleep, workout, or cook?? Do you never take it off? Tell us your personal "ring rules"! Photo by Priscilla Thomas Photography in...

Has anyone else heard of the "S" rules? I tend to take my rings off to sleep, shower, swim, sweat (workout), scrub (clean), and saute (cook)! I thought it was a good tip from my jeweler in regards to swimming with your rings on that "you maybe shouldn't where your rings if you can't touch the bottom!" Smiley laugh

    Only when I bartend! lol

I never thought about swimming, I run a few times a week longer distances but never take it off then either (I probably should lol) honestly I never wore much jewelry and what I wear I never take off (a necklace and now my engagement rings) I sort of forget about it.

I lose things. It's just me so my ring doesn't come off. I've taken it off once to put lotion on, forgot to put it back on and went through the OMG IT'S GONE scenario..later found just under the bed a bit. I took it off mixing burger and set it down in a dish so I would REMEMBER. Got done, but had some other cooking to do so put it in my pocket and FORGOT...again panic. So I tend to leave it on and when I'm in a situation that is risky I am hyper-vigilant.

I take mine off for all the S rules except sleep! I always feel so anxious when I’m not wearing it so honestly I wouldn’t be able to sleep well if I couldn’t feel it on my hand hahhaa

I take mine off whenever I wash or lotion my hands, and also while I exercise, cook or clean. I have a ring dish next to our microwave (far away from any sink) that I put it in for safe keeping. I also take it off when I go to the beach, partly because I'm afraid of losing it in the ocean, but also because I don't want to get it dirty with sunblock. If we're going to be away from home, I lock it in our safe.

I left my engagement ring home while we went on our honeymoon, mainly because we planned to spend a lot of time at the pool and on the beach and I didn't want to leave it in the room safe. I did wear my wedding ring, which isn't as loose and is much less expensive. I was glad to at least have my wedding ring for that week, first to admire my new ring and also to not make me feel naked while missing my engagement ring.

I almost never take mine off! Only if I'm doing something that will get it dirty or using a harsh chemical! It probably comes off twice a week if that!

I take it off before I go to bed, when I take a shower, when I go to the gym (shoot me for saying this but the rock bumps against the treadmill), cooking messy things, and when I put on lotion.
Wow, I take it off a lot, lol.

I take mine off all of the time. Sleep, washing hands, lotion, shower, dishes, cleaning, working out, putting stuff in the oven, and gardening. Every time I get my ring cleaned (I have a Morganite stone that I clean every 4-6 months as they attract oil like crazy!) my jeweler is so happy with how well I'm taking care of it. He said the above things are the worst thing you can do for your jewelry if you wear it while you are performing them. One of my good friend never takes her ring off and she has had to replace 3 stones in the past 4 years on her ring. It pays to take good care of it!

I take mine off to shower and if my hands are going to get extremely messing. I don't take it off for swimming in calm bodies of water (pools and lakes), but i'd probably take it off in the ocean. I don't really swim so much as lounge, though Smiley winking

I rarely wear mine unfortunately. I love it but it is very ornate. I work a very rough and hands on facility so I had to stop wearing it to work. I rarely do much outside of work and home so I end up rarely wearing it. I do try to remember it any time I am leaving the house outside of work though.

If I had a normal job, I would take it off to cook, clean, swim, shower, and sleep.

Same. I pretty much take my ring off when I walk in the door, and don't put it back on until I leave the house. I never wear it when I cook, clean, sleep, or do any kind of physical activity. I'm always super stressed about something happening to it, or a stone falling out (even though we have insurance lol) that I just feel better knowing its safe it its place in the ring dish, rather than it being possibly damaged by an activity like that.

I also take it off at the times you mentioned. Otherwise, it gets grimy and the diamond doesn't sparkle like it should!

I take mine off when I shower, sleep, wash my hands, and go to the gym. Though, I'm home right now and not wearing it (I just got back from the gym and haven't showered yet, so no point in putting it on). Anytime it can get wet or there's a potential for lotions, soaps, etc. I'll take it off just so it stays as clean as possible.

I take it off to shower, sleep, and wash dishes. Other than that, it hardly ever comes off. Although I do fidget with it a lot.

Take it off to shower and sleep. I also sometimes take it off to workout. The jeweler told me that it is important to take it off when you sleep so I've just listened. I always take it off to shower because I am afraid of it falling off and going down the drain.
