When do we cash gift checks?

We have just started getting early wedding cards, and I was wondering what the etiquette is on cashing the checks. Should we do it right away for people's convenience when balancing their checkbook? Or wait until after the wedding since they are wedding cards? The wedding is still two months out.

We got a check with an RSVP decline. We cashed it and sent a thank you card. I personally hate when I give a check and the person waits forever to cash it because I keep having to take it into account when looking at my checking account. Also, some checks are not good for very long, so depending on when your wedding date is, it may be invalid by that point.

As soon as possible so you don't mess up their financing. The only time I've seen it wait for after the wedding is when the wedding is very soon after the bridal shower (say two weeks).

Cash it as soon as you get it. I hate when someone waits forever to cash a check because it does mess up my bank account.

I'd just cash them now, especially for people who may not always have a ton in their checking account.
