When did you sign the certificate?

When did you sign your certificate? My mother is insisting the paperwork not be signed during the ceremony as she has been to others weddings where it took place during the ceremony and did not like it. How are you supposed to do it when it’s not part of the actual ceremony? I feel like there’s too...

My mother is insisting the paperwork not be signed during the ceremony as she has been to others weddings where it took place during the ceremony and did not like it. How are you supposed to do it when it’s not part of the actual ceremony? I feel like there’s too much stuff going on that day and would then prefer to do it the day before.

We will hire an officiant who will do it the way we have dreamed our ceremony to be. Thanks!

My H and I only signed the marriage license when we got it. On our wedding day our officiant and witness signed it before the ceremony started.

I've usually seen it signed immediately after the ceremony, but would have no issues if I was at a wedding where they signed it during.

Ours will be signed prior, but I've seen some people do it after the ceremony during cocktail hour. So the guests are all busy but the photographer can still get pictures.

Genuinely asking, how is making a separate trip the day before more convenient than just signing it where you are right after the ceremony?

All the weddings ive been to (at least 10) recently they sign after vows depending on where ceremony is they would go to a decorated table on the side or in the church office and sign while someone sings. I quite like it this way as once the ceremony is over you are officially married and dont have to worry about it.

I would do it right after the ceremony, while family is getting organized for pictures, and the rest are occupied with cocktail hour. It will take literally 1 minute, and I want my photographer to catch it, with us all dressed up.
