When did you buy your dress and did you have to pay a rush fee?

And if so, how much was the fee? I had been planning to go dress shopping at 6 months out, since I live far from my family but I'll be visiting home for Christmas (my wedding is in June 2018). Allow 6 - 9 months. The timeframe it takes for the dress to arrive, I believe, depends on varying factors (your location, where it is made and shipped from, time of year, etc.) It took mine 6 months to arrive but it shipped from Spain via NY to Seattle. Just did first fitting and go in for 2nd fitting on 6/2 and if needed final on 6/10 ... then bead work to be done by 7/2 for wedding on 7/10.

It really just depends on the store where you purchase your dress, and the designer!! I bought my dress from Bhldn in December 2016 for July 2017. I received my dress a few weeks later. Another shop I went to told me I'd have to pay extra money for rush shipping (and I was 7 months out).

If you buy it back home make sure they can actually ship it to you rather than having to go in and pick it up

I bought my bridal gown several months in advance and my sister was in town and invited her. She was surprised in all levels to be a part of my dressing fitting cause I had just got engaged. Ideally I would like both sisters, or more family, but to have to wait for them to try on dresses is not a good idea or worth the wait. Waiting for everyone and pay a high fee later for rush. No regrets and great decison.

My dress took a full 8 months to come in. I'd start shopping sooner rather than later.

I bought my dress in October for a May wedding. I was told it would be 3-4 months however I got a call in 6 weeks that it was in. I'm sure the fact that I ordered in the fall was why it was so quick - I'm sure doing so in the spring (wedding a prom season) would make it take longer.

I am buying my dress in a couple of weeks (giving me 6 months). I am waiting for my mom's visit. That being said I had to evaluate what type of dress I could get and whether it was worth it. I've decided to go for either David's bridal or go off the rack so my mother could be there for my appointment. It just depends on what is more important to you, the dress or the experience of buying the dress with your family.

I ordered my dress from Cocomelody in January 2017 and received March 2017 and I customized the dress as well which was extra. My wedding is August 17. They told me I could purchase it as late as 3 months prior. I love this company my dress turned out wonderful and exactly as I asked! Good luck!

I ordered my dress last month and it will be in at the earliest in October. So I'm really glad I went when I did. Mine was quoted 6-9 months, averaging 7 months (hence October).

I really recommend starting around the one year mark. If you go somewhere like davids or go to a trunk show you'll afford yourself more time. But you really don't want to have the panic of not getting it on time

I got super lucky and was able to buy a dress off the rack from a bridal salon that closed due to the owner retiring, and luckily it fits like a dream. Depending on what your budget is you may be able to find something off the rack, or used (there are some amazing benefit stores where bride's can donate their dresses and proceeds go to various charities) and then look into alterations. One of my favorite is bride's for a cause.

Mid-April for my September wedding. Didn't require a rush fee. Might need a rush on the alterations. December you should be fine. Most designers have timelines on their specific websites.
