When did the majority of your gifts arrive?

Emily, on July 10, 2019 at 1:48 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
We are getting married in less than a month! ๐Ÿ˜Š We have had almost 140 RSVP that they are attending. However, we have received less than 12 gifts (and 1/2 of those from people who RSVPed they are not attending.) We are paying for the wedding ourselves and the cost is about $100 per head. I would think that most gifts would have arrived by now. I would understand no gift if someone isnโ€™t attending. But to attend a wedding and not send a gift? Iโ€™m not trying to be a bridezilla, but Iโ€™m hurt and shocked. ๐Ÿ˜ข Is it normal to attend a wedding and not send a gift? Or do most gifts arrive after? I know they technically can send for up to a year, but I also know no one actually sends that late.

I think people usually send gifts much closer to the wedding date and within a couple of days after. Some people even bring gifts or cash to the wedding. I wouldnโ€™t worry about it if itโ€™s a month away.

If we are buying a gift and not giving cash we purchase it within a month of the wedding. I'm sure you'll be receiving many gifts soon. Some people still bring them to the wedding too.

I wouldnโ€™t be surprised if many (if not most) bring a card with cash the day of the wedding

In my family everyone brings the gift on the day of the wedding unless they had to travel by plane, in which case they ship it. People also may be gifting you cash. Donโ€™t worry about it

We received 0 gifts before our wedding day. Most people brought cards to the wedding, we only got 5 physical gifts, which were also brought to the wedding. One was sent through our registry but it was delivered 3 days after.

Any wedding I attend I bring a card with cash in it. I never send a gift ahead of time. I bring a gift to the shower.
I would be expecting gifts/money on the wedding day. You usually have a gift table at the reception along with some sort of box for cards.

Iโ€™ve never attended a wedding where people give physical gifts for the wedding. Most people in our social circle give cash/checks in a card at or within the week or two leading up to the wedding.

Every single one of my guests brought a card with cash or check to my wedding except 2. One brought nothing and one is sending a gift later on per her card. We did get some checks in the mail from people who couldn't attend and some who were never invited.

I've never given a physical gift. We always bring a card with a check in it to the wedding.

I think most people bring their gifts the day of the wedding. Cash seems to be the new norm.

My advice: Don't expect to get in return what you put into your wedding. It is not a trade off.

Beyond that, you will get the majority (i'd say around 95%) of your gifts on your wedding day. However, most people will bring a card w/ money. For our wedding, we didn't get many gifts off of our registry, we got mostly cards w/ money....which we are totally okay with.

We got everything off our 3 registries before our wedding and then at the wedding people just gave cash. We got the majority of our physical gifts at our showers.
