Hey all hope you are doing well!
I woke up and somehow my calendar says August and I can not believe how fast the months are breezing by, then it dawned on me that I need to collect addresses and send save the dates soon! (Trying not to get stressed)
This would have been a completely normal experience or I would have had a more concrete plan but COVID has made matters difficult. Us brides have the new added stressor of basically planning blind in a sense.
I was on a webinar about two months ago hosted by Desiree Adams on how to Pandemic proof your wedding. I asked her the question of when 2021 brides should send save the dates since the guest list can be reduced due to possible ongoing restrictions and she told me to trickle them out or skip them all together and just send invites 8 weeks out. But being that about 25 guests are out of town that wouldn't be fair to them or allot enough time to make travel arrangements.
I was highly considering her trickle them out suggestion (until this morning). My fiance and I decided the first batch of save the dates would go out to "the absolute must be there people" (ie. immediate family and wedding party) and going on from there. But two issues came up from that plan. I made a list of everyone of our 80 guests and ordered them from immediate family to out of town family so my trickle them out plan would still leave out of town guest very little time to make arrangements as we put them last due to travel restrictions and if they persisted into next year. The second issue was the possibility of guests finding out that some got a save the date and others did not due to word of mouth and I'm certain our explanation would not make guests feel any better.
I hate not knowing what next spring/summer will bring. I'm such a planner and love lists and knowing exactly what will occur and making backup plans. But COVID seems impossible to plan around since it's so unpredictable.
So I'm reaching out to my spring and summer 2021 brides to see how you all have chosen to go about sending your save the dates with all the uncertainty of what is to come next year.
I appreciate you all.
Stay well!
