When (and how) to let guests know about Wedding Website

Alison, on March 7, 2014 at 2:46 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 21

I have created a really lovely wedding website that allows me to invite guests and track RSVPS and includes all the info for my wedding. I'm sending my save the dates in a month and I'm just wondering when I should let my guests know about the website? I've had trouble finding the answer to this. Do I wait until after I send the STD's and then email everyone to let them know about the website, or on Facebook? Do I wait until the actual invites go out and then let people know to go to the website? It seems redundant to send save the dates then invite people via the website then invite them again with a paper invite. Should I just not invite people on the website at all? What's the best way to approach all of this? I appreciate any help with this! It's super confusing.

We put a link to ours on our STDs. I'm also adding a "for more information visit blah blah blah.com" on our invite, too.

I put the website on my save the dates, and on an info card inside my invitations so they can find hotel information. People call and text me every few weeks asking for the website too, because they are at work and don't have the save the date or whatever. So they do get the info that way for the most part!

I sent an email to my uncle, parents, brother, FMIL and asked them to pass on the info.

I didn't send out Save the Dates but that is a good place to put the wedding website.

I'm putting it on my invitations. "for more information go to *link here*" If you are going to send out RSVP cards with your invitations you could have it say on the RSVP card that they have the option of replying through your wedding website as well.

I did what Future Mrs. R said. If you're worried about people RSVPing " too early " if you have a WW site you can hide the RSVP page till your ready.

I put it on my STD at the very bottom, and hoping to put it on my invitation or the reception card.

Ours was on our save the dates, and we're doing the same for the invitations (since we're also using the website for RSVPs). The idea here is that you're directing them to the website the first time because there's info about the wedding that might be helpful to them before the invitations go out (hotel info, for example, or location so they can factor in travel time if they need to take days off). And the second time, you're letting them know, "This is where you should RSVP," and you have to give the site again in case they lost their save the date.

It's totally fine. Just wait until the invites go out to go live with the RSVP page.

We put it on the Save the Dates, then again on an insert that will be included with the invites. It might be overkill or annoying to mention it more than once. But I don't care. Very few people have gone to the site, so I'll drill it into their skulls.

I put a clear label with a pretty script font on the STD and invite that said "For more information vist: blaha blah"

I put it on my STDs and on the invites. We had our RSVP through the website, so I mentioned it twice.

I email it to people and have it on a more info card in my invites, Don't invite people via the site. You can just tell people by word of mouth, email, save the dates or on the invites.

We put it on an enclosure card that we sent with the invites. We are also having people RSVP through our website.

I made the mistake of NOT putting the address on my std's... should I wait until the invites go out? I considered the facebook option because you can hide it so it can be seen by guests only but wasn't sure if that was too informal.

We changed our site since std's went out. No one knows the new address, and won't until invites go out next week. Mostly bc we don't want people RSVP'ing on there now, then turning around and doing it again. Nor do we want the whole "I already told you I was coming"!!!

    Lol
