What's to early to book?

Cheyenne, on December 10, 2019 at 10:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 21
We're getting married in April 2021 and I was wanting to book everything for our wedding just so it's book but my fiance says thats early. How early did you all book your stuff?

I think the first thing to book would be your venue, then you can base everything else off of that. I personally don't think it's ever too early to book your venue as long as your venue is already booking for your date (it also gives you more time to pay it off). After my FH and I booked our venue we started looking into caterers, photographer, our DJ and all other vendors. Everything else started falling into place once our venue was booked.

This is definitely not too early to book a venue. The earlier the better when it comes to major vendors like photographers and caterers as well.

We have our venue booked because the place we chose books super fast. Our caterer gets paid 2 weeks before so we would just have to put a deposit down to hold them. Our photographer and Dj would need half or all of the payment. So I figured since we got some extra money we might as well book people while we can.

That's what I was thinking. I just wanted some others opinions to see if I was just doing it because I am overly excited lol

We booked our venues about 2 years in advance.

We knew exactly what we wanted and had a specific date we wanted that we refused to budge on Smiley smile

I don't think there is anything wrong with booking your vendors early. Plus that way you lock in your prices now. For instance my photographer is $1850 when we booked her, she now is $2500. We booked her in March of 2019, but we are locked into the price of $1850.

Our wedding is Jan 2022 and we booked our venue last month and are now looking into photographers. I don’t think it’s too early. I’ve found that it gives us more options I haven’t yet run into the “we’re already booked for your date”. And quotes are based on 2020 rates so we’re protected from potential price raises.

I'm getting married in 2022 and booking at my place opens this july. I'll be booking as soon as it opens. As long as you're sure you wont change your mind, secure it!

I booked venue, photographer, and florist 18 months in advance. If we had waited 1 week longer we wouldn't have been able to book our venue- it was booking like crazy. It's NOT too early. Get on it

Definitely not too early to book your venue. Once you have that you can book the major vendors so that you secure the ones that you want and all the small details can follow later.

I booked venue, photographer, DJ, and officiant 2 years in advance.

Booked hair, makeup, flowers, and hotel about 1 year out.

It's never too early to book things imo, but some vendors may have a cap on how early they'll do reservations.

    Hi!

I am getting married on July 10th 2021! First book your venue, I got engaged on 6-2-19. I started looking at venues 2 months later and i had 3 venues booked already for my date. But you also want a rough estimate head count. We have 200-250 we are thinking. We are now working on catering. I currently 18months out but I am taking my time to gather quotes and reviews so i can organize everything so when I get close to my year out I can just go book everything we want.

I booked two years before--we wanted a specific date and did not want to have to negotiate anything. We also got our pick of vendors because we booked early.

I was the first to book my venue back in 2018 for our 2020 date. I think it is never to early to book, especially for things like venue and photography! Smiley smile

If you have the money for it now, do it! You cannot predict the future and having half of the payment down could really help later on!

We booked the venue last month for our 4/24/2021 wedding. Also like previous comments, prices might change. We booked our DJ and paid 2019 prices which saved us some money because their rates would be going up next year.

Most of our vendors we ended up going with were already being booked a year 1/2 + out. We really started to kick it into gear a little before a year.
