What's the point? I'm handwriting these invitations? Wasting my time?

Jessica, on November 23, 2019 at 11:50 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

What's the point? I'm handwriting these invitations? Thank goodness, I will be having about 40 people. My hand hurts a little. And another thing, the wedding websites, don't seem to give you much for creativity such as, what kind of fun activities there will be. The wedding website on here doesn't seem to work; it keeps chopping off our heads. I'm not going to do the typical have a separate rsvp card in there because they can call or text me, facebook me, or whatever. Another thing is, with this digital age (like facebook and text) we are in, people will be wondering, "Why are you asking me for my address?" The conversation will lead to me saying, "Me and my guy are wanting to get married." Don't know if I'm wasting my time. Also, the stamps cost as in phone calls and private even on facebook is free. I don't know.

Do what makes you happy. If you want to do electronic invites you could go that route. Need ideas check Pinterest.

You could skip the hand written invitations and wedding website and just do e-vites instead. That seems like it would be the easiest thing in your case.

Wedding websites don't seem to work. They don't allow me to describe and and be expressive.

Adjusting picures seems too hard too. No room for creativity.

I didn't call you tacky or cheap. I'm just trying to lend some advice to make things smoother for you. I'm not trying to put you down. A facebook invite for an informal wedding would also be fine. I just think telling your guests they can call you, text you, or "whatever" is going to be a headache for you in the end. It's best to have one place for them to RSVP.

Oh no no no. I never said you said that to me. It was a random thought. I appreciate your advice. I'm not the exactly formal person...makes me nervous. I am organized and can keep things in control with a private event and people can repond to that.

True lol. It's just the awkwardness in this day of age of saying, "um. What's your address?"

We just created a Facebook event “we need addresses” invited our friends and family and posted a link to a google
Form for people to fill out with their address. It was super efficient and we got about 80% of our addresses that way. The rest we just sent a quick text/email too.

Ok. I may steal that idea. Time effective! The google link thing sounds confusing thing though. I'll check it out though. Thank you.

Why are you concerned about people asking why you want their addresses? Just tell them why you want their address if they ask. It doesn't have to be a secret. If they know you're engaged they'll probably guess why, though.

Why is that awkward? You're overthinking this. Drop the um and just confidently ask people "What's your address?"

Google forms are super easy to make. When you go to google and click forms, it walks you through it step by step.
