What's the difference between the reception entrance and the first dance?

Shana & Christopher, on August 2, 2015 at 5:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

I'm trying to put together the music list and I'm so confused!

When we make our entrance as husband and wife, do we have to have our first dance right then? What do you do? When do you have the first dance?

It's a song for when people make a grand entrance, but we had a more humble entrance since we had lunch start while we were still taking pictures (in the same area, we were never far away from our guests) and then we just wandered into the area with tables to get some food and eat Smiley smile I don't remember what song was playing in the background

Some couples have their first dance right after their grand entrance. I chose to do it differently.

    Grand entrance

    MOH, BM, and MOB speeches

    Dinner

    Cake Cutting

    First dance

There are no hard and fast rules that say a timeline MUST be done this way or that. Do it in a way that makes sense to YOU.

Some people do but you don't have to & it all depends on what you& your new husband wish to do. You may want to settle in for a few minutes with your bridal party at the head table or if you're having a sweetheart table you might want a few minutes to take a breath, have a drink or just relax for a few minutes. The introductions of parents, bridesmaids& grooms men then you & your husband was separate at my first wedding. We didn't do the "dances" until a 1/2 hr later. I have noticed a new trend where the couple is introduced & the immediately hit the dancefloor for their wedding dance. Work with your DJ to design what best suits you& your husband to be. Its YOUR DAY. The vendors YOU are paying should accommodate (within reason) you & your fiancé requests! Best wishes& congratulations.
