What's the deal with little children being ring bearers?

Thanks for asking! I was curious too. We didn't have kids at our wedding and my bridesmaid held on to the rings till right before the processional. She didn't trust her husband (best man and he agreed) to not loose them and he's a grown 35 year old. He almost dropped both rings giving it to our officiant so his wife was right here. No way would we have given the actual rings to a kid.

@SaraJ - that was kind of a buzz kill

@AdventuresofRuth - I sure hope not since I'm 56 and this post office has stopped delivering

I am having a flower girl and 2 ring bearers since my grand niece is 5 1/2 and my twin grand nephews are 5. I thought it would be lovely to include them

Like others have said, ours won't have our actual rings. He may not even have a pillow (we are thinking maybe a bubble gun instead to switch it up). The best man is supposed to have the rings, but I would probably trust my "ring bearer" more than I would trust the best man in my wedding lol :p our officiant will have the rings haha if you don't like/understand the tradition then I say just ditch it! No need to do it if you aren't feeling it

Luckily my 14 year old son will be there "ring bearer" and although I'm still nervous about the rooms it does make me feel better! I also got a beautiful wooden box that matches on Etsy, maybe with checking it and feel free to have whomever you want carry them!
