What’s next?

Maddie, on August 30, 2019 at 10:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 28
My wedding isn’t until October 2020 & we already booked the Venue, Photographer, and Videographer. What should I book or purchase next?

I know I have time and not everything needs to be booked/ purchased right now but I wanna make sure I have booked/ purchased the bigger things that have limited spots and worry about the smaller things close to time.

Hair and makeup artist tend to book up quickly. So I would start researching at the least, and have your trial and book in the not too distant future. Also, it is ideal to purchase your dress 10 months out, to account for shipping time and alterations. So I think that maybe your next big purchase. Also, a caterer is going to be a big vendor to book ahead of time. Good caterers tend to book far advance.

Like a pp said, I would start researching hair and makeup. Get prices, have trials etc. I was really ahead with booking vendors like you. It’s helped keep the stress low!

Does your venue include catering? If not, I'd look into that next!

DJ, dress, I would also recommend paying off the big things waaaay in advance! We’re getting married in 20 days and we’re coming close to all of our deadlines for final payments!

I'm also getting married in October 2020! Smiley heart

    So far I've booked/bought:
    - Venue (includes site for getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, pictures; also includes a coordinator, set-up, linens, tableware, food & alcohol). If your venue isn't all-inclusive, I'd definitely start looking into those things!

    - Photographer

    - DJ. If you're planning on having a DJ or band, I'd look into vendors now. They can book up surprisingly far in advance, and October is one of the most popular months to get married.

    - Officiant

    - Dress. I bought this about two weeks ago. It was a sample sale, so I won't go back to the shop until about June for alterations and fittings, since those start 3-4 months out. They told me that if I was ordering a new dress, it would take 4-8 months to come in.

Currently, I'm starting to look into flower vendors and researching hair/makeup. Smiley smile

    Good luck!

Start looking for your dress!! And look into hair & makeup. You can also look into invitations

I’m getting married in Nov 2020 and have the venue, caterer, and dress. Still looking for photographers, hair/makeup, DJ, flowers, and invitations.

If you can book all the big vendors as soon as possible. This not only secures the ones you like but it might have a benefit on getting better prices. I booked all my vendors on late 2017 for my early 2019 wedding. Some vendors didn’t have their 2019 price list yet so they offer me the 2018 price and even when I did upgrades later on I still got the 2018 price. So I say you’re missing catering, rental, florist, DJ, lighting, decor, officiant.

Hey there. Looks like you are getting married a few days before me. Do you have your DJ? Guest list? Bridal party? We already have save the dates we will be sending out around christmas(most of our guests are out of town/out of state)
Also ive noticed hair/makup salons book up fast so im starting to explore that.
What theme are you doing? We are doing a rustic fall theme, so this is the perfect time to start buying fall decor and things and get good deals now, since next year will be cutting it kind of close

I would look into catering, bar (but this may be handled by your venue or caterer, every place is different), officiant, and wedding coordinator/planner if you’re looking to have one. We booked a day-of coordinator who will help us with the rehearsal and creating our wedding timeline. She’ll take care of setting out decorations that we bring in and making sure our vendors are all ready to go.

I’m October 2020 too! I recommend finding your single person vendors now (officiant, dj, etc). I’m 10/10/2020 and our date is already filling up. I randomly reached out to the officiant that I was interested in and he already had someone who was in the process of booking him. Luckily they backed out so we got him! Caterers, florists, etc are vendors that can usually do multiple weddings in a weekend.

    So far I have:
    -Venue
    -Dress
    -Officiant
    -Caterer
    -Dj
    -Florist
    -Coordinator
    -Photographer
    -Videographer

    Hope this helps!

Our wedding is September 2020 and we've already booked the venue, catering through the venue, photographer, and officiant. I'm currently researching DJs and videographers to see if any might fit in our budget. I'm also trying on dresses in a few weeks and hope to purchase a dress by the end of this year.

A photographer I talked to (different than the one we hired) told me that 2020 is supposedly a popular year and vendors he knows, including himself, are booking up quickly, so I'm freaking out a little and trying to get this stuff done! Maybe that was a tactic he was using to have us book him, I'm not sure, but nonetheless I'm like you and want the bigger vendors out of the way so I can focus on flowers, hair/makeup, etc. after that.
