What's a reasonable/average amount for engagement photos?!

Jennifer, on February 24, 2017 at 5:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

I'm looking to do my engagement photos while I'm in Tampa visiting my fiancé. What is a reasonable amount to spend on the session?!

Ours are included in the package, but I would say $500 is a fairly average amount around here as an add-on if they are not included.

Many photographers build an engagement session into their wedding packages Smiley smile

Our engagement pictures were included in our photography package. But if it wasn't included in our wedding package we would have paid $400.

This varies from location to location and photographer to photographer. It can range from $150 to $500 or more. As an example, I charge $250 for an engagement session alone. Many photographers also offer packages that have a reduced price or free engagement session when booking a wedding.

I would say 300-500 for a stand alone session.

I paid $150 for e-pics & $150 for our engagement dinner. He gave us a package deal for 2days. Epics were for 2 1/2 hours in April and engagement dinner was for 3 hours in May.

Free. Hubby's Aunt has a great camera and took a bunch of candids for us. We used one for our save the dates, and that was it. We were able to print-out the ones we wanted, and e-mailed them to family and friends.

Our photographer offered a free session, but it had to be at their studio, and there was a charge for prints; I don't think we owned the proofs, like we did with the wedding photos. They had multiple locations and we weren't assigned our photography team, until a month before the wedding. I certainly didn't care about "getting to know our photographer," like some pros insist is necessary.

    E. photos weren't a priority because we had a 1-year engagement and I knew we'd only keep the prints out until we got the wedding photos. And guess what? Baby photos are now in place where the wedding photos once were.

I haven't gotten too much pricing but have seen t range from 350-800. Just make sure you get all the digital images with whomever you pick. One I just met with was $525 plus engagement session fee for the digital images.
