What's a good time to start and to end?

Sarah, on February 18, 2020 at 5:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
My wedding date is set for June 14th and we are having an outdoor ceremony and reception. With that being said I don't want my guests to burn up. The venue I have chosen says we have to have everything cleaned up and have to be out by 10pm. So what would be a good time to start our ceremony which will be followed with our reception and what would be a good time to end the celebration?

How long of a reception/ceremony are you planning on having, and are they both in the same place, or do you have separate venues? Some people like to have really long ceremonies and then dance as long as possible, whereas others are ready for the party to be over so they can begin the honeymoonin'.

I had my wedding mid June last year and started at 5p with an outdoor ceremony. At that time of day the weather was cool.

We're having an outdoor September wedding in Florida (yikes!!) and are starting our ceremony at 4:30pm with a hard end time at 10pm as well! It's a tradition in the South that we get married on the half hour so that our new lives together start on the upswing of the clock!

Work backward from when you need to be out?

How long will clean up take? 1 hour? 9PM

How long do you want for dancing? 3 hours? 6PM

    Dinner: 1 hour 5PM

    Cocktail Hour: 1 hour 4PM

    Ceremony? 30 minutes 3:30 PM

So I would have the ceremony at 3 or 3:30. You can adjust if you need/want more time for things.
