What would you expect at a 2pm wedding?

Adoretamm, on March 17, 2016 at 2:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 26

Sorry for multiple posts today but we had to change our start time to 2pm. We're offering heavy appetizers and of course dancing, photobooth etc. do you think this will be enough? Have you ever attended a 2pm wedding?

    What you describe sounds like what I would expect for a 2pm wedding.

    It might depend on region. In FL, people will day drink and dance. I think you are good to go on good for sure as long as their are still nibbles after a few hours.

    I think it sounds good! If it went too much later people would probably expect a full meal, but you should be fine ending by 5-6.

    You can absolutely control their expectations;

    "Join us for our ceremony followed by an afternoon of cocktails, hors d'oeuvres (not horse ovaries, thank you) and dancing."

    Then they know exactly what to expect, which will be perfect!

    That sounds good to me, I'd figure apps and cake, and plan to do dinner after

    Sounds great! If you want to party more in the evening, you can put a notice on the website that you'll be at X from 8pm/whatever for anyone who wants to drop by for the afterparty.

    We're planning a 2 PM dessert reception for our wedding. It will probably only last from 2-4, as our friends and family aren't really partiers and most don't dance.

    I think what you're planning sounds great!

    If you have a wedding website, I'd suggest mentioning on it that it will be just heavy apps, so no one excepts a full meal. (That way they will plan to eat lunch before, and dinner after).

    Our wedding is at 2 PM, and will be over by 7:30 PM. Mine is only starting so early do to the lighting in the room we have for the ceremony. (Venues choice, not ours) But I still think an earlier wedding can be fun. Our wedding may end early, but we are all going out afterwards to keep the party going. =)

    Thanks for asking this question @Adortamm, this is helpful to me too, I was thinking about the same time frame 2pm for the wedding and then a couple hours following for the reception (like until 5-6pm). I had read some stuff online earlier about this timeframe, but had forgotten what it was called- cocktail reception. Yeah, I was considering heavy h'orderves, drinks and wedding cake.

    We are having a 2PM wedding followed by a cocktail hour and reception with dinner food. Our family and friends are traveling from other states and want to celebrate and party with us...even if our wedding is on a Sunday Smiley smile... As long as you let your guests know, you are doing great.

    Ours is at 2! We'll be doing a full dinner and everything. We have the DJ until 9:30 and the venue until 10:30. I'm not really sure how/if some of our friends party, but both of our families love to drink and have a good time! Lol I will not be surprised if we end up going to a bar or someone's hotel room to party some more.

    All of that being said, a 2pm ceremony is really a time that can go either way. We're having a long ceremony, the reception venue is about a 20 minute drive from the church and we're doing a full cocktail hour. Dinner will be at 5ish, depending on how long pictures take (could totally see us taking over an hour).
