Hi all. We got married on 11/11 and had a wonderful day....except for the DJ. We found our DJ at a bridal show and when I researched them online, I found tons of good reviews and only ONE poor review. I wish I had taken that one bad review more seriously.

He was to arrive at our ceremony site by 3:00 and was to begin playing music by 3:30. My husband and I took quite a bit of time selecting meaningful, romantic songs to "set the mood" before the ceremony, which started at 4:00. He had told us that he was going to visit the site a week prior to see where he needed to set up.

At 3:50 my DOC comes to me and tells me that she was trying not to worry me, but the DJ still wasn't there and he couldn't find our location. 4:00 rolls around and I see a guy in basketball shorts and a cut off tank top, looking like he just rolled out of bed, running across the lawn. At first I thought it was a guest of the gardens (they were open to the public) and then realized it was our dj.

@Sara&L - that is beyond ridiculous!!! What an idiot. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

I agree, I want to warn others.

Or you could leave a review like this: "I can't say enough good things about our DJ. He was so laid back and relaxed (see this photo of him in his shorts & tank top). Although he played the wrong music for the processional, he did play HIS favorites at the reception. His fee was really low. We got what we paid for."

My DJ is cost 925 with a monogrammed light. ..i also have been to bridal shows and seen a bunch of djs under 800 .. I'm in Philly and while there's DJ more costly .. I think 700 could be a pro price .. but I'd ask for a full refund if my th did that or write a review and lose the money

Unless you are desperate for the $300 I would blast reviews everywhere. That is so sleazy!!!!! I put a LOT of stock in reviews of vendors on wedding wire, the knot, etc and I am guessing other bride's do too, and they deserve to know what he is really like. I would still demand a refund after you give a bad review though. It is the professional thing to do

Op I had the same problems with my contracted dj...gave him all the music to play and to be sure it was on a flash drive. Let me back up a sec...our wedding was held at our church and we have strict rules when it comes to music. Each and every selection has to be approved. No bump n grind music. So what does he play...a sexual song while guest are waiting. Fortunately my doc was able to get to him and force a fade out and put on more appropriate music. I didn't know this until until later because I was still out of sight and didn't hear it. The reception was held in the lower church where we all are by then and not only does he start up a bump in grind song again but he starts singing which is something I specifically asked him not to do besides he's no al green...haha. So I walk over with the biggest smile on my face (my eyes must have said I'm about to shove that mic down his throat) and he has the biggest oh crap look on his face. I politely whispered I need the mic to toast and thank everyone. I really had to restrain myself and found humorous words to smooth things out. The next day I couldn't help but giggle when friends and family took to social media calling the dj "uncle Willie in accapello"...lol. I decided not to demand any monies back as I didn't put in the contract not to sing but simply let his performance speak for itself...plus he got no tip. His 4 plates of food was his tip and my conscious was clear. Some ppl may have handled it differently but it was only a few mins left to go in the reception and we were tired and ready to go. It was not the hill I wanted to die on.

I also had the worst DJ. Forgot to play my requested song until I was halfway down the aisle then randomly switched it. Also made a big announcement when we walked in the congratulate my husband and I as we walked into the reception and he called me by my sisters name. Also played A LOT of trap music, when most of my guests were at least 40-50+. I feel you on this on so many levels. Sometimes I can’t even listen to any of my own wedding songs because they just make me think of that DJ and it makes me cringe. Lol

I agree! I would write a bad review too if this person wanted me to in a second! That is so unfortunate
