What would be a good time?

Tina, on August 1, 2020 at 8:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
I am having the Ceremony and Reception in the same room. The room will be set up by the venue about 4 pm and we still have to set up some other decorations. Having trouble of trying to figure out a time to start and when the guest should arrive. Really want to start getting the invitations printed up.

Ask the venue when guests are allowed to enter. They usually start arriving 30 minutes before the ceremony to be seated, so you could have your start time (when you make your entrance and what is listed on invites) at 4:30.

I was thinking 6:30 or 7:00 pm. Would that be to late to I start?

Does the venue have a curfew when you have to leave? 6:30-7 is a pretty late start unless you're partying into the next day.

That seems rather late to just be starting a ceremony.

I figured since everything is being held in on place I can have it later so it will give everyone enough time to get ready and get there. We have family that is traveling same day. Not everyone will be able to pay for rooms.

If they can't pay for rooms where would they go after the wedding because if the reception ends at midnight then they will need somewhere to stay.

Ask the venue to be absolutely certain of all details instead of guessing. You don't want to be surprised with it if they end the party abruptly or charge you extra for running overtime.

Drive back home. There’s some who will leave after the dinner. Their drive is not as long as the rest. 1 hour the most

    I didn’t mean can’t pay I meant don’t want to pay.

That's also a really late time to first be eating dinner.

If you have to be out by midnight, I would assume that means you have to have everything packed up and out by midnight, not that your party can go until midnight. Don’t forget to account for clean up time. Definitely check with the venue.

It's WAY too early for you to start printing up invitations. You've got 6 months still, and invites go out 6-8 weeks (longer for far away guests) before.

Still, your venue and your officiant should be able to help you on this.

I would say around 5:30 if you still have other decorations to set up
