What would be a better idea?

RaylaSan, on April 14, 2020 at 3:28 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 6

Hi guys, so for my February wedding, we are having my family provide all the food for our wedding, but the only problem is that they don't want to be in charge of setting it up, so they want us to hire people that will just be in charge of setting up the food, clearing up the tables, and so on.

My question is, could we really just hire a catering company for just the people, and not to provide the food?

My FH was suggesting we could hire them just to do hor-duerves, but I'm really not so sure.

What you're looking for isn't catering people, but servers. there are companies that hire out just their servers and wait staff.

If you want to hire servers to help serve and replenish the food, you wouldn't need to go through a caterer, just find food servers. My parents have hired food servers for parties they've thrown in the past, I'm sure you could look online for something like this!

I don't think a catering company would do hors doeuvres and stick around to serve food that they didn't make, but they may be able to do just that first course if you want.

A credible catering company isn’t going to serve your DIY food, that’s a huge liability. I don’t condone self catering, but if you’re set on it, I would find servers on Thumbtack.

I would just cater the whole thing. It’s not that much and worth it.

My wedding is being catered by drop off services. We’re actually hiring wait staff along with the bartender that will tend to the food. So yes, hiring out servers shouldn’t be that difficult to find.

I'd use a full service caterer, however. There are many threads about why DIY food is a bad idea
